The dim, flickering orange light of candles is mesmerizing and immediately relaxes the senses. A way to enhance the effect of these candles is to use fragrant ones with various colors that appeal to the senses. Thought these candles are extremely luring, the hole that they leave in the pocket is something no one looks forward to. And the best way to get around this difficulty is to make some fragrant, colorful candles on your own.
The task ahead is extremely easy and can be accomplished by simply following some basic steps. Take some old candles and place them in a container. Place this container in another larger container that has water in it and put this apparatus on fire. The boiling water will melt the wax. Be sure never to pace the container with the wax directly on the fire since it can be dangerous. If you do not have enough old candles, buying candles in bulk quantities will keep the total cost down and will definitely be cheaper than the exorbitant price charge by showrooms for these aromatic beauties.
While the wax is melting prepare the moulds. You could choose any kind of a container that suits your fancy. Though aluminum containers may get hot when you pour hot wax in them, they are the best choice. You could also use old glasses for designs or disposable paper cups for a simple tumbler type of look.
You would also need to prepare the wick of the candle. This could be obtained easily from an older candle if possible or be prepared using white cotton straw. Make sure that you rub enough wax on the straw to make it taut. This will make it easy fro you to insert in the melted wax once you have placed the wax in the mould.
Add the desired oil color into the melted wax and be sure to add the color slowly and mix thoroughly so that you know when to stop. Pour the liquid wax in the container and add the wick slowly, ensuring that it goes right in the middle and straight down.
If you wish to make candle with layers of different colors, then you must melt wax in different containers and add appropriate colors to each lot. Make sure that the mould you choose for a multicolored candle is tall which allows for the layers to show. Of utmost importance is the manner in which you pour the different colors. Each color wax should be poured after the color prior to that has cooled off. If you do not take care of this then the colors will mix and all that you may be left with is a murky colored lump.
For fragrance candles add the oil-based fragrance of your choice to the melted wax. This should be done right at the end after the color has been added and stirred since the heat may cause the fragrance to escape. These fragrances are easily available in the market and range from floral ones like jasmine and rose to others like tea tree, lemon grass and musk.
After the color, fragrance and wick have been added, place the mould in the freezer to allow the candle to come out easily. Now all you need to do is to light the fire!

Neat, Clear Lettering for Your Mechanical Drawings

Hand lettering - particularly the kind that the draftsman and engineer do - is separate and apart from type, and must not in any way be an imitation of type. It is a distinct, free-swinging letter made quickly by quick strokes of the Speedball pen. Anyone can do this kind of lettering and, with a little practice, can do it extremely well. No knowledge of design or type faces is necessary.
In hand lettering it is necessary to rule only two horizontal guide lines at equal distances apart; you then use your lettering pen to form the letters between these guide lines. You do not need to resort to your triangles or other mechanical devices. Hand lettering is decidedly a matter of practice, and the more you practice the better able you will be to do it successfully.
Let us now consider the rapid kind of freehand lettering which the draftsman must be able to do. In the simple, freehand, sans serif lettering you can choose between the vertical and the italics, or slanting type. Most draftsmen find the italic lettering more convenient and quicker to do well than the vertical kind.
One excellent method of learning to letter in this way is to draw between two horizontal guide lines a number of rough ellipses, all the same size and equally spaced. This is, of course, done lightly with your 2H pencil. With the exception of the letters i, k, 1, t, v, x, and z, these ellipses form the basis of the entire alphabet.
For example, a is an ellipse with a small line at the right of it, b is the ellipse with a long vertical line on the left; c is the ellipse three-fourths completed; d is the ellipse with a vertical line to the right, etc. You realize at once how simple and easy it is to rough out any word you choose by this ellipse method, and to quickly ink in the outline of the letter you want. Of course you must remember the straight line letters. If you have an i, 1 or t, you must leave less space than you would for a k, an x, or a z. Note also that the lower case letters m and w are two intersecting ellipses wider than the other letters.
Practice making a number of different-size alphabets by this system and you will be surprised to find how quickly you will be able to form good, clear, well defined letters, and how easily the words themselves will form.
We have said that hand lettering is a matter of practice, and if you practice by this system you will soon be able to produce good, clear, simple line-italic lettering in lower case. The capital letters are somewhat different; they are formed in blocks and not in ellipses.
Obviously, if you do not want to do lettering in italics but prefer the vertical letters, then all the ellipses which were your guides in the lower case lettering become circles. These can easily be made with the pencil bow compass.
It may be obvious, but it is nevertheless important, to point out that most of this kind of lettering is done in two or more strokes. The letters c and o are an exception.
In the case of numerals, there are no set rules or regulations. You can choose your own method. If your numbering is clear, that is all that is necessary because numerals appear mostly on dimension lines and seldom if ever occur in groups the way words do.
With a little practice, you will be lettering easily and clearly.

The wrist watch became more popular during the Second World War when service men came to understand that tactical watches can do more than just telling time. Creating Quality Animation Is Now Within Anyone’s Reach

These days, computers have made the animated playing field much more even. Now anyone with an idea can create an animation of considerable quality, in a lot of cases for little or even no money, and a lot less time. With a computer and the proper software creating 2D or 3D animation is very much a reality.
Let's take a look at some of the software available, both low cost and free, for 2D and 3D animation.
2D Software
There are many programs on the market for creating 2D animation. Some require drawing out scenes like traditional animation, and some use cut-out animation, which is more like working with puppets. Unlike traditional animation where everything was hand drawn frame by frame then filmed, today computer animation programs allow for tweening. This means you can draw or position two scenes on a time line, and the computer fills in the frames in between. This makes creating an animation much faster.
Let's focus on two of the more popular programs here. Toon Boom and E-frontier Anime Studio. Toon Boom allows for cut-out animation, but the real strength is the ability to draw frames as in traditional animation. Anime Studio on the other hand is a cut-out animation powerhouse, allowing the animator to rig and manipulate characters with an internal bone structure and vector graphics directly in the timeline.
Depending on your personal style, there is not much you can't create with these products. They both offer different price levels for introductory versions and the full featured versions and both are also used by professional animation studios. Introductory versions start around $50 and go from there.
But, maybe that is still too expensive. Well there is good news as there are many free options to create 2D animation as well. Creatoon was once a competitor for Anime studio in the cut-out animation field, but the producers stopped development of the software. The good news is they left the final version for download free of charge. They no longer support the product, but there are many online tutorials that show how to create animation with Creatoon. This is not a second rate product, but a very powerful tool and a real bargain.
3D Software
Here is where things get fun. The trend in animation is 3D CGI, with studios like Pixar leading the pack. The software used can get prohibitively expensive, such as Autodesk Maya and 3ds Max, and Pixar Studio's own Renderman. 3ds Max alone is just under $4000.
But, there are many cheaper, or even free alternatives.
E-frontier not only makes Anime Studio for 2D work, but they also make Poser, which is a 3D character program that allows for character creation and animation. Poser costs around $250.
There are even cheaper options. For around $200, you can get Reallusion iClone. This program is very powerful as it not only allows for custom character creation, but is also a 3D virtual movie studio complete with motion control, lip synching, 3D sets and props, and full camera control. You can make a full movie inside this one program. It even comes with stock motions for characters that can be used until comfortable with the program.
Even $200 is a bit much for some burgeoning producers, so how about free? This is where Movie Storm comes in. This bit of free software shares a lot of features with iClone. You can make full movies, but you are limited to the characters, props, and sets that come with the program and have a bit less control over the 3D environment. Other than that, this is a very powerful tool to create 3D animated movies.
So there is a brief overview of the programs to help you break into animation, without breaking the bank. The great thing about the programs above is that they are not toys, but powerful animation systems. All can produce high quality animation and bring stories to life.
